Welcome to the Department of Cardiology at the Heidelberg University Hospital
The Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Pneumology at the Heidelberg University Hospital is one of the leading university hospital cardiology services in Germany, with extensive specialized experience in all common methods of diagnosis, and offering the full spectrum of available treatments. Due to the research focus of the hospital, we also have a great interest in continuously improving our range of diagnostic and therapeutic options. As part of this mission, we are able to offer numerous innovative methods that are available in only a few other hospitals.
The department has 30 examination and treatment rooms available, where our patients will find state-of-the-art devices for non-invasive cardiac imaging, such as magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography for the diagnosis of cardiovascular disorders. Our inpatients are accommodated in comfortable double rooms, each with its own bathroom.
In 2008, over 12,500 inpatients with cardiovascular disorders were treated, and heart catheterization was used in 5,800 examinations and treatments. The average length of stay for inpatient treatment was five days.
Our range of services includes
- heart catheterization,
- computed tomography of the heart,
- magnetic resonance imaging of the heart,
- echocardiography,
- and genetic diagnosis.
We wish you a pleasant stay and a quick recovery!
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Hugo Katus
Medical Director of the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Pneumology at Heidelberg University Hospital
